Most days I walk along an irrigation ditch that runs through Confederated Salish Kootenai Confederated Tribal Forest land. There are invitations for connection if I notice. This time of year there is a place where Columbine unexpectedly grow along the bank. Toward dusk the petals have a delicate lightness and seem as if they want to take flight.

The rains have filled the land with greenness spilling into the water where it joins the sky blue.

I am grateful for this water, this light and the green ones. They bring me sips of peace as the world trembles with suffering, violence, action and hope.

May you find a tree to lean on and moments with the natural world that bring you joy.
