Walking with My Camera: Fall Light, Lichen, Bees, Bear

Today is a gray icy rain kind of day. I am inside looking over some photographs from the last week. Here is a view from a place where I often photograph water.

The creek runs through a dark mossy place where this lichen grows. I appreciate lichens, but I don’t know very much about them. This one seems like it might be a kind of “Pelt” lichen.

I love the fall sunlight coming through leaves.

There aren’t many flowers still blooming but the few hardy remaining thistles are filled with earnest bees when the sun is out and the air is warm enough.

I didn’t get a good photograph of the hefty and healthy bear I saw a couple nights ago near our gate. It was delicately eating something in the irrigation ditch in preparation for its big sleep.
